well Baren is officially wrapped. now post begins. but before that, it's time to enjoy the fruits of my labor. i directed a short film this summer. now it's time to head back to brooklyn, head back to my job rolling burritos. heading back to school soon too. there's about a week or two until it's back to the grind. "back to the grind". please. i never leave the grind.

bringing the awesome on a consistent basis. there's not too much i want to talk about it, honestly every day we shoot nothing but gold. after one day of shooting we found that we needed more gold so we mined some more the next day. doing work. DOING WORK.
people ask, what's baren about? simple answer. it's kind of like avatar.

i always said that i'd post on liah when i "make it big". well i've got a ten day shoot coming up for what is being described, by me, as an epic comedy. yours truly, andrew southard, is going to be in the director's chair. i'm freaking out a little bit, but that's only because shooting is a day away.
so, i'm going to try and keep people posted on a day by day basis. for now though, i'm going to watch the new rescue me. stay tuned.

i'm on day 2 of my 2 day vacation. i've done literally jack shit. it feels pretty good though. hanging out in the homeland, in my air conditioned room. tomorrow i'll be back to the grind of rolling burritos in 100 degree weather, but for now, i relax. or try to at least. who can relax when ilya kovalchuk is rumored to be making his decision today?
i hope everyone had a good fourth of july. america!

oh boy. the new york islanders are making some noise in free agency, potentially. they're rumored to be throwing a huge offer at ilya kovalchuk. for those not in the know we're talking about a 40 goal scorer, and for those really not in the know we're talking about a fucking boss. he's 27 years old, if kovalchuk went to the isles and lebron went to the knicks, man. the jets are looking to contend pretty seriously next year, and the yankees are continuing to kick ass and take names.
i love sports. it's kind of ridiculous how much it means to me. straight up religion.
so now a personal message to GM Garth Snow. hey buddy. remember when you came outside to visit the fans waiting in line for 20 dollar islander tickets? i asked you about the sean bergenheim situation, you ended up bringing him back to the team. well do me another favor. sign ilya kovalchuk. please? awesome. all the best, andrew southard.

i really feel the need to recap from yesterday a bit. for those under a rock, the US won in dramatic fashion yesterday 1-0 to advance in the World Cup. landon "captain america" donovan scored the game winner in the 91st minute of play. it was incredible. a moment like that? the only things that come straight to mind are aaron boone's walk off homerun and, well, that's about it. i'm a jets and an islanders fan which pretty much offer nothing but heartache. but i love them to death.
anyway. LANDON FUCKING DONOVAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was at a bar in williamsburg, a bit drunk at 11 in the morning. it was glorious. traffic up front, can it happen, can it? donovan. i had a really shitty day at work, and usually that's when i crave a cigarette. instead i just had that goal replay in my head for a second and i couldn't help smiling. USA baby, USA.
