LIAH #838

i live and breathe the new york islanders. everyone knows that. they're my team, there is just no other way of explaining it. so a rebuilding year is tough. especially one without our starting goaltender healthy. but hey, i can be patient. and its still early anything can happen. i've loved the yankees my whole life. i was 5 or 6 when i went to my first yankee game and i remember it. being that my father and my brother are both red sox fans, it was tough being a yankees fan growing up, but like i said, they're my team. now on to the point of this liah. the new york jets. being a jets fan was probably the toughest life choice out of all three of those. the grief they have caused me, unimaginable. i'm pretty sure everyone knows my story about when they lost to the steelers and i was in tears in some random bar in philadelphia. they had two chances to go to the afc championship game, and they blew it. one of the most difficult things i've ever had to deal with. and how about last year. a new york football team, won the fucking super bowl, but yet my team went 4-12. the football gods have not been kind to the jets. and there is nothing like football. hockey is definitely my favorite sport, but football is something all its own. its dramatic. one day out of the week, and if you win you're that much closer to immortality. you lose, you're a step back. so finally, after the years of despair, the football gods delivered us one of their own, Brett Favre. you look up man in the dictionary and there is a picture of Brett Favre. arguably the best quarterback to ever play the game. given to MY jets. oh like it was yesterday, we were chillin at the death star. there was a bunch of random people there who i didn't really like. it was kind of an awkward setting. i dunno, something about it i'm pretty sure it was one of those parties where i was on the deck smoking cigarettes most of the time. i'm almost positive it was gelston who delivered the news, Brett Favre is a Jet. everything stopped for a second. for a moment there, pure ecstasy. i went home, watched sportscenter for a good 2 hours. one of the commentators, steve young, i remember him saying something alone the lines of, "right now, i'm just really happy for jets fans. they deserve this." thanks steve, thank you. well now we're just over the halfway point of the season. 5-3. just beat a division rival. i know this is probably only a one season deal with brett. i don't want to think about next season. i don't care. i just care about right now. lets make history.
