LIAH #959

man, what a show at the garden. there really is something about that place, it has that aura to it. yes, the fucking new york ranger tards play there too, but whatever. the only ranger game i've been to the islanders won 7-4. anyway, blink-182 just blew my fucking mind. backtrack.
i get there, around 1. i get to the back of a small 50 person maybe at most line. some dude throws a consent form at me. whats this? oh just sign this cause we're filming a documentary(blinkumentary i've heard of this gonna be sweet and now i'm on it) and the band's going to come out and say hi. give me two of those. i forged zmans signature quite nicely, and of course quickly after that the zman himself comes around the corner. i told him we were meeting blink and many dude!s we're exchanged. around twenty minutes after i met mark hoppus. boom. i told him that he brings the awesome on a consistent basis. zman got him to sign his shirt. mark hoppus is simply just the dude. it doesn't get much more complicated than that.
that could've been a day in itself easily and one for the record books, but there was still a show to be seen. we sat on line for a solid 4 hours after being hopped, it wasn't that bad. met some chill blink fans, had a dirty water hot dog and half a pack of cigarettes, and at one point a bus drove by that looked like a boat. i kid you not.
eventually we got in, ran, and got on the gate. right next to the stage. legit. now i don't need to explain how incredible that is for blink, it does have its downsides. listen, fall out boy sucks. sometimes maybe i'll listen some of their music but all of that is taken away by how much of a herb pete wentz is. anyway, as i'm suffering through this shit hole, the other guitarist with a beard talks to me and zman in between songs. once again, i kid you not. he tells us we're not rocking hard enough. i told him we were there to see blink. he then told us he promised to go nuts if we did. i was like, eh, well this is awkward. so we gave them some for when they covered don't stop believing. kind of cool the guitarist talked to me and zman, i'm a fan of that guy. but fuck fall out boy. pete wentz wears fake eye lashes. herb.
anyway, after our little entanglement with fall out boy, after a long wait it was time. blink. they have a curtain up before their set, and i know i'm close to the stage but i want to see this. it falls and they go into dumpweed. the set was pretty similar to last time i saw them but they played obvious and don't leave me, two awesome songs. every song they played was just sick. for stay together for the kids they go, "this song is about us". seeing tom and mark play their hearts out towering right over me was just insane. like i was saying before that energy was there. it felt like an intimate show but yet it was huge. amazing.
has it topped green day at giants stadium for the first spot on my top 5 favorite shows? i don't know. it's as close as anything and a solid number 2 that i can say for sure.
