coming to you live from the brooklyn college library. i've got a wonderful(wonderful!) 5 hour break? yeah. loads of fun. but i've got class for like an hour tomorrow so hey. i guess i fucked up making my schedule. who knows. i had screenwriting today. we watched the lookout, it wasn't bad. do you remember the trailer? with joseph gordon levitt. "if you have the money you have the power." "i've got the money i've got the power!" well it wasn't as bad as you thought it'd be, quite thrilling at the end. joseph gordon levitt is an awesome fucking actor, i guess you have to be after being known for being the guy from 10 things i hate about you. heath ledger, rip, did it and now he's doing it too. i liked 500 days of summer, but more importantly, brick. if you haven't seen it, go see brick. go see it. watch it online or something i don't care.

i think between working too much this summer and just being pissed off at a lot of things, my love for film has grown even more. and by love for film i mean just watching movies. getting a 2 hour break from life for a cinematic experience, it's the bees knees. i think it also has to do with the fact that for the first half of the summer i was seeing a lot of junk in theaters. there's really nothing better than a good film, or just a film that has the ability to take you away from reality for a little bit.

you do what you love, and fuck the rest.

it's nice being one of the vets on staff at work. you give me a little bit of power and it'll go to my head. not even power, but leadership. i was that douchebag in gym class who would be so extremely pumped to be a captain. maybe it has to do with having no athletic skill, or just enough to barely compete. actually thats not true at all, no athletic skill. i get down on myself too much for that. i'm just not exceptional at any sports. except badminton. i make it rain.

why can't i sleep late anymore. it sucks, fucking work. maybe thats a good thing i don't know. so i'm moving in today to my new place in bay ridge. moving my shit in i mean. but still, exciting stuff. i am looking forward to this year. i actually started reading some of the books i have to read for my classes. because failing a class this year is not an option, especially a class like acting. never again. fuck acting, fuck theater. im actually a damn good actor too, its just these theater people have sticks shoved so far up their asses that all they can do is prance around to Cats. lame. also congrats to Mark Sanchez for winning the starting job. time to do work bud.

had the day off yesterday, due to rain. rain that came at 2 in the afternoon, but whatever can't complain it's just money right? right? anyway, i saw inglorious basterds. ahhh. even though this summer was kind of lame, i saw a shit ton of good movies in theaters. the king of them all though has to have been basterds. first off, it's not necessarily a ww2 movie but a western set in ww2. which is awesome. first scene right off the bat, homage to the good the bad the ugly. brad pitt is awesome in it, all the basterds were awesome in it, but christoph waltz as "the jew hunter", wow. supposedly he was in a couple of german sitcoms before this, i don't know how the fuck tarantino found him but he did. everyone's saying oscar nominations for waltz and i'm included in that. it runs 2 and a half hours but it really does not feel like it. coming out of that i just thought, tarantino made one hell of a film. i know that cramming in everything he wanted to for his epic was tough, but he did it. and he made it work. go see this movie. i plan on seeing it multiple times in theaters. is it his best? i don't know but it's fucking awesome.

awesome and funny are two different ways to describe a film. thank you obvious oswald, but seriously think about it. theres times where you're watching a movie and you just get way into it. a scene comes on and you're like yes! and that is awesome. then of course when something is funny you start to laugh and you're like ah thats mad funny. i just watched observe and report, and it completely combined the two. it wasn't simple slapstick or back and forths, which if works can be great don't get me wrong, it was pretty dark but yet i couldn't stop laughing. pulp fiction is actually a really funny movie but the awesomeness is too mind blowing to make you notice it almost. not that i'm comparing those two, i'm just saying. go check out observe and report.

just about the end of the summer. honestly, kind of blew. besides august 9th, whack as shit. maybe i'm just too old to appreciate these things anymore. that's supposed to happen when you're 80 and you're just a grumpy old man. the times are a changin. another year in brooklyn. yay? another year working and going to school pretty much living like a fucking migrant worker. but my name is andrew benjamin southard and i'm on a god damn mission. 3 years to go, then bam, real world. hopefully by that point i'll have my shit figured out. if not, well, i don't know. its too much thinking about that stuff. too many heavy concepts. its sunday, entourage is on tonight, so lets not talk about that stuff. it would've been nice to go on vacation this summer though, i could've used that. but, a couple months of dicking around in white plains never hurt anyone. have a good school year, you know where you can find me. hopefully its bookmarked.

yesterday, august 9th 2009. where to begin. woke up, 1030. for some reason i can't sleep late anymore, i blame westchester country club. maybe thats a good thing? but i miss sleeping late. anyway wake up, ready to go. start working on the limited edition mix, One Way Ticket To The Mark Tom and Travis Show. 22 of blinks best. its a damn good cd. its time to assemble the bros. i do my zman call, and of course the ziggity zman comes busting out the side door, ready for action. who wears pants to the beach, zman wears pants to the beach because zman doesn't give a fuck. time to get the bassosaures rex. 1 o clock. fucker is still sleeping. i'm like, pisser, get your ass out of bed its time to go see blink-182, but mrs. bassano was having none of that. so i go, pisser, we're getting jay, be ready when we're back. jay is always ready to party none of this sleeping until 1 nonsense, so we go back to the bassano residence, and finally sleeping beauty has arisen. all the bros assemble at rosedale. we're all very hungry men. breakfast was enjoyed, it was now time to drive to jones beach. not too much traffic, pretty easy drive. easy comparable to the monsoon we encountered driving back. the whole day even before blink was just awesome. the beach was fun. q104.3 really brought their A-game in song selection yesterday. it was nice not having to work at the beach and just chill instead. once 6 rolled around, it was time to hit up the parking lot. just a big blink party. everyone was pumped, we even saw some kids who looked 12 carrying around cases of brews. having to sit through fall out boy not so much fun but hey, whatever.
all of that was nothing in comparison to the awesomeness that was blink. right when the curtain fell they busted into dumpweed. feeling this came next which was awesome. they played so many fucking songs so i'm not gonna list them all, but there really wasnt a low point to the show at all. i miss you was fucking epic as well, which i didn't really expect.
all in all, august 9th 2009 was a great fucking day. when i got back i checked 182online.com, only to find out they just added a show to Madison Square Garden. i can't fucking wait.

its been a while. damn. thats what happens when you're working all the fucking time and all you want to do is nap. sleep has turned way more epic than it should be considered. so i'm seeing Blink-182 today. its hard to grasp that. until i see mark hoppus, tom delonge, and travis barker on stage together i really won't believe it. nice.
